Musician Tips
- Practicing
- Practicing and
playing are different. Practicing is about improving technique. Playing
is about interacting with others, expressing your self, and living
in the moment.
- Practice a tune
at different tempos.
- Practice a tune
in all twelve keys.
- Transcribe
your favorite solos. It helps to be able to sing them along with the
record before you write anything down. Start with solos that have
simple rhythms like medium up bop tunes where soloists play eighth-notes
and eighth-note triplets. That way you can just concentrate on pitches
and rests.
